Weathernews is proud to be invited to the 2nd WMO-IMO Symposium on Extreme Maritime Weather, taking place from September 25-27, 2024. This significant event will focus on strategies to minimize risks from extreme weather and enhance safety in the maritime industry.
Our General Manager of Marine Group Operations (EU and US), Amy Buhl, will present on “The Role of Non-Governmental Service Providers in Maritime Operations.” Her presentation will cover Weathernews' innovations in forecast technology and risk management, including our voyage simulation tools and high-resolution forecasting models. We aim to demonstrate how private sector contributions can enhance maritime safety, particularly in light of climate change.
The symposium will provide a platform for discussing the challenges of marine forecasting and the critical need for reliable weather data amid increasing extreme weather events. Attendees will have opportunities to engage with experts and explore collaborative efforts between public and private entities to strengthen meteorological services.
